- How does the Control-M Workload Automation (WLA) job definition parameter "Rule-based Calendars (RBC) Keep Active" work? - How to define the Control-M/Enterprise Manager job definition so that the "Keep Active" value is taken from the Parent Folder RBC and not from the job's Keep Active value?
- "Keep Active" from Rule-Based Calendar overwrites the "Keep Active" from jobs definition only when the "Relationship" is set to "OR".
Following are the steps to define the "Keep Active" parameter on the Control-M Workload Automation (WLA) GUI:
1. Launch Control-M WLA GUI
2. Open the Planning Domain and open the properties of the Control-M job
3. Select Scheduling > Advanced Scheduling
4. Scroll down to Toggle button: "Relationship between job scheduling definitions and all Rule-Based Calendars" - Select "OR", the value for "Keep Active" will be taken from first RBC that belongs to parent folder. - Select "And", the value for "Keep Active" will be taken from jobs' definition.
NOTE: i. When selecting the Scheduling > Use Parent Schedule, the scheduling criteria is set to default values as below: - All days of the month are chosen - Toggle button: "Relationship between job scheduling definitions and all Rule-Based Calendars" is set to "AND".
ii. By choosing the above option, the "Keep Active" parameter will NOT be taken from parents' RBC.
iii. When switching options in the Combo-box, it is enough to set "Use Parent Schedule" once, in order for these values to reset back to default.
2. Open the Planning Domain and open the properties of the Control-M job
3. Go to Scheduling > Select Advanced Scheduling in the Combo-box
4. Select 'None' under Days of Month.
5. Under "Relationship between job scheduling definitions and all Rule-Based Calendars", select "OR".
Explanation: - When selecting an "OR" condition between no days from job definition and days from RBC, only the days from the RBC will be active. - The same happens if we select "AND" relationship with all days of jobs' definition with the days from the RBC.
