The Solution has a different response for Agent version 9.0.19 and lower and Agents 9.0.20 and higher

for Agents 9.0.19 and lower:
- Control-M documentation Regarding Control-M/Agent compatibility with other Control-M components indicates compatibility with Control-M/Server and Control-M/Enterprise Manager only at version equal or higher version.

- There has been no full-cycle QA testing with Control-M/Agent being on a higher release than Control-M/Server, and compatibility testing is done only for basic functionality.

- Technically this does not mean that it will not work, just that it has not been fully tested and, therefore, is not officially supported.

- On previous occasions when there was a need to support a higher version of the Agent relative to Control-M/Server, development will fully QA such a configuration and release an official support statement indicating that such configuration is officially supported.

- Without such statement a higher version of an Agent is not officially supported with an older release of Control-M/Server.

Additional Information
If you do this, make sure to set the communication protocol on the Control-M/Agent to match that of the Control-M/Server.

Agents version 9.0.20 and higher
Agent 9.0.20 is compatible with Control-M/Server 9.0.18 and 9.0.19 as documented in the Control-M v9.0.20 release notes.
