In BMC Performance Assurance (BPA) version 9.5.02 and later (now the TrueSight Capacity Optimization (TSCO) Gateway Server) a new status e-mail feature has been added to the product. This feature enhances the General Manager Lite reporting to send a daily status e-mail that describes the success of the daily BPA data collection, transfer, processing, and data import into TSCO process.

This new General Manager Lite status e-mail was implemented via QM001851696 and is available in BPA 9.5 Service Pack 2 and later.

The General Manager Lite status e-mail can be enabled via the standard General Manager Lite configuration.

Implementation Steps

(1) Run the BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.pl command with no flags:

$BEST1_HOME/bgs/scripts/BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.pl

(2) Follow the prompts for configuration information related to General Manager Lite.

(3) When prompted, enter a comma-separated list of the email addresses to send the daily status report (empty means no e-mail is sent) (Example: d@bmc.com,b@bmc.com)

(4) When prompted, enter an E-mail subject summary line

(5) To test, execute the execution of the script now

$BEST1_HOME/bgs/scripts/BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.pl –r

(6) Check your e-mail for the new e-mail message.

If the e-mail does not arrive or does not appear to be generated, review the $BEST1_HOME/local/manager/log/BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.log to look for error messages related to the e-mail being sent. It is possible that the BPA console has not been properly configured to be able to send e-mail in your environment.

If you aren't able to determine the source of the problem open an issue with BPA Technical Support and provide the BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.log.
