When trying to open any archive viewpoint from the History domain, the error "Failed to open an archived viewpoint due to a load limitation at server." or "Quota of jobs in EM Server has been exceeded" is displayed and the viewpoint fails to open
the parameter LimitArchiveJobsInMem is being exceeded
The following video demonstrates this article:
When opening an Archive viewpoint, all the information on the archive is being loaded to the GUI server`s memory. If two clients open the same archive viewpoint, the information is being loaded to the GUI server`s memory twice. The parameter "LimitArchiveJobsInMem" defines the maximum number of archive jobs in memory per GUI Server (GSR). When the number of jobs in the memory reaches the maximum, you cannot open new archive viewpoints until the GSR frees some memory by users closing archived viewpoints. The "LimitArchiveJobsInMem" can be increased to allocate more memory in the GSR when users open achieved viewpoints as they are hitting the threshold (40,000). There is no recommended value for this parameter as it is depends on the environment itself; machine memory, number of jobs in the archive, etc.
From the Control-M Configuration Manager version 900, select the Control-M EM in the components tree, then click on System Parameters menu in the ribbon.
Select Advanced
select the parameter LimitArchiveJobsInMem ( component type = Gsr)
Double click on the parameter and edit the value
click Save
The refresh type of that parameter is automatic so there is no need to restart anything.
Additional Information
The number of archived job entries currently in GSR memory can be obtained with the PJOBCOUNT command in the control shell: CCM -> Right click on the GUI server -> Control-Shell -> Type : PJOBCOUNT
The 'EnableIdleTimeTimer' system parameter can also be set to free resources and close Archived Viewpoints when GUI client users leave the viewpoints open for a long time without activities. This can help avoid parameter "LimitArchiveJobsInMem" value being exceeded. Please refer to knowledge article 000161502 for more details.
