Question

How can I add sleep or pause before an active job actually begins executing after its prerequisites are met?
How can I add sleep or pause before an active job actually begins executing after its prerequisites are met on a Windows Agent which does not have an OS sleep command installed/available?

Answer

1. A. In the job definition, in the "General" tab, click "More" to see additional fields.
B. In the "Pre-execution Command:" field, enter an appropriate waiting command, like "sleep 1200".

2. For Windows Agents which do not have a sleep command nor the Windows Resource Kit that includes the sleep.exe utility, the Agent includes a _sleep command. Documentation for it is here: http://documents.bmc.com/supportu/ctrlm9/help/Main_help/en-US/index.htm#4019.htm

When the job's prerequisites are met, the job will go into the "Executing" state, and will begin running the pre-execution command. The host will only run the main part of the job after the pre-execution command is complete.
