How can I migrate from Control-M for Advanced File Transfer (AFT) Version 7.0.00, 8.0.00, or 8.2.00 to Control-M Managed File Transfer (MFT) version 9.0.18 or higher?

Please follow the section below that relates to the version of AFT or MFT you are currently running, and the version you are upgrading to.

Terminology:
MFT = Control-M Managed File Transfer
AFT = Control-M for Advanced File Transfer
CCM = Control-M Configuration Manager
EM = Control-M/Enterprise Manager
Agent = Control-M/Agent for UNIX or Microsoft Windows

----- Upgrade from MFT 9.0.18 to MFT 9.0.19 (or higher) -----

Step 1) Install MFT 9.0.19 or higher by following the steps in the Control-M Managed File Transfer 9.0.19 Setup Guide

 

----- Upgrade from MFT 9.0.0.x to MFT 9.0.18 (or higher) -----

Step 1) Install MFT 9.0.18 by following the steps in the Control-M Managed File Transfer 9.0.18 Setup Guide
Step 2) If upgrading to 9.0.19 or higher, install MFT 9.0.19 or higher by following the steps in the Control-M Managed File Transfer 9.0.19 Setup Guide

 

----- Upgrade from AFT 8.2.00.x to MFT 9.0.18 (or higher) -----

Step 1) Install MFT 9.0.18 by following the steps in the Control-M Managed File Transfer 9.0.18 Setup Guide Step 2) If upgrading to 9.0.19 or higher, install MFT 9.0.19 or higher by following the steps in the Control-M Managed File Transfer 9.0.19 Setup Guide

 

----- Upgrade from AFT 7.0.00 or 8.0.00 to MFT 9.0.18 (or higher) -----

NOTE:
It is required to upgrade to AFT 8.2 first.
AFT 8.2 can only run specifically on 64bit operating systems with a 64bit Agent.
SSL certificates must be manually imported to the cm/AFT/data/SSL/cert/aftkeystore.pfx file. For more information, see the Control-M Administrator Guide.

Step 1) Install a new Agent 9.0.18, or use an existing 9.0.18 Agent
Step 2) Install AFT 8.0.00 plus Fix Pack 1 on the above new Agent 9.0.18
Step 3) Copy the contents from the current AFT 7.0.00 or 8.0.00 cm/AFT/data directory (including sub-directories) to the new Agent 9.0.18 into the same cm/AFT/data directory
Step 4) Upgrade AFT 8.0.00 Fix Pack 1 from step 2 above to AFT 8.2.00 which will convert the Connection Profile data into the new format
Step 5) Follow the steps in the section "Upgrade from AFT 8.2.00.x to MFT 9.0.18 (or higher)"

 

----- Upgrade from AFT 8.2.00.x to MFT 9.0.00 -----

MFT 9.0.00 will end support in September 2021
The recommendation is to upgrade to MFT 9.0.18 or higher if possible
