In response to customer requests, Compuware has added Receive From Network (RFN) to its product delivery and installation methods. The RFN process enables you to receive the product directly to your z/OS environment and install it using SMP/E.
FAQs
Q: Do I need to create a special Global CSI just for this RFN order?
A: No, you may use an existing Global CSI. In fact Compuware recommends that you have one Global CSI for use with all Compuware products and releases. In the new Compuware Installer dialog, you have an option to use an existing Global CSI or to create a new Global CSI for Compuware products.
Q: When I specify a JOB class for my JOB statement, what class should I use?
A: The Compuware Installer will generate JCL for several jobs to complete the full SMP/E Receive from Network process through ACCEPT processing of your target system. The JOB class used must provide for a long running JOB producing a large volume of SYSOUT. Typically, at least 5 minutes of CPU and unlimited clock time and unlimited lines of print is recommended.
Q: What MSGCLASS should I use for my JOBs?
A:Use a MSGCLASS that is a "held" output class so that you can review the job output with a terminal and not waste paper.
Q: Where can I find my HOLDDATA report?
A: It is important to note that the generated RFN JOB ($04RECV) produces a report of HOLDDATA in the dynamically allocated SMPRPT DD. This report should be reviewed before completing the remaining SMP/E jobs ($05APPLY and $06ACCPT).
Q: Do I need to uncomment the STEPLIB DD in my $04RECV job?
A: The generated RFN JCL ($04RECV) is supplied with a commented out STEPLIB DD pointing to the IBM default library name (CSF. SCSFMOD0) of the IBM Cryptographic Services Facility. If this library is defined on the linklist, you do not need to activate the STEPLIB and can leave it commented out. However, if the library is NOT on the linklist, you should uncomment the STEPLIB DD and make sure the default DSN of CSF. SCSFMOD0 is cataloged on your system. If you do not have this dataset on your system, you must specify the SMPJHOME DD to identify a version of Java installed in z/OS UNIX.
Q: What if I must authenticate through my firewall before I can Receive from Network?
A: In this case you must provide firewall credentials in the $04RECV RFN JOB. Uncomment the CLNTINFO command and the //CLNTINFO DD statement parameters to enable authentication through your firewall. Comments in the JCL provide guidelines and the SMP/E reference manual provides additional details on commands and parameters related to CLNTINFO.
Q: What if I need to use FTPS to do the Receive from Network?
A: In this case you must provide FTPS credentials in the $04RECV RFN JOB. Uncomment the CLNTINFO command and the //CLNTINFO DD statement parameters to enable FTPS. Comments in the JCL provide guidelines and the SMP/E reference manual provides additional details on commands and parameters related to CLNTINFO.
Q: What do I do if my site does not allow Receive from Network directly to my mainframe?
A: In this case, the product order e-mail contains a link to a .tar file. Click the link and save the file to your default download directory. You must then create a z/OS UNIX directory and file structure. Refer to the 'Tar File SMP/E Receive' section of the Compuware Installer Guide for additional details
Q: How much space is needed for the SMPNTS directory during the Receive?
A: Refer to the following table for disk space requirements
Product | Size in kb | Total CYLs | Total CYLs + 25% for SMPNTS |
