What are the steps for upgrading an existing Control-M Managed File Transfer Enterprise (B2B) environment? * Are there any additional considerations for upgrading MFTE environments configured with High Availability mode? |
The following steps can be used to upgrade the different components of Managed File Transfer (B2B): 1. Upgrade the Control-M Agent to the latest version (DRKAI.{Version Number}). 2. Deploy the latest MFT Deployment Package on the EM server (for example DRAFP.{Version Number}_Linux-x86_64.tar). 3. Deploy the Control-M Managed File Transfer Agent Plugin to the Agent(s):
* If the environment was configured as a Managed File Transfer B2B High Availability environment, MFTE HA requires all Hubs to be on the same version. The Hubs can be upgraded one-by-one so that MFT can continue functioning during the upgrade by selecting only 1 Agent for the first deployment. The other Agents can then be selected on subsequent deployments. Otherwise, the deployment option "Send MFT to Control-M Agent(s)" can be used to reduce downtime. Once all uploads completed, The installation can then be triggered during the downtime time frame.
* Please note that the Control-M Managed File Transfer B2B (DRM2B) package does not need to be re-deployed for upgrade as step 3 will upgrade the version for both MFT and MFTE B2B. 4. Upgrade the MFTE Gateway to the same version that MFT was upgraded to in step 3. (4.1). Shut down the Gateway with the command: $HOME/mft-proxy/exe/shut-mft-proxy.sh (4.2). Run the Control-M Managed File Transfer B2B Gateway installer (DRM2B.{Version Number}) as the Gateway user. The setup file will detect that the Gateway is already installed and will present the option to upgrade. (4.3). Start the Gateway with the command: $HOME/mft-proxy/exe/start-mft-proxy.sh *If the environment was configured as a MFTE B2B HA environment, repeat step 4 on all Gateways in the environment. 5. Confirm firewall rules have been configured accordingly to newer MFTE version: For the Control-M Manage File Transfer Enterprise, or B2B, what firewall ports need to be opened between the HUB and the Gateway?
