When upgrading a Distributed Control-M/Enterprise Manager to version 9.0.20.200 on an AIX machine, the Kafka Service fails to start with a warning "Kafka services fail to connect to Kafka brokers" during setup.

Problem

When upgrading a Distributed Control-M/Enterprise Manager to version 9.0.20.200 on an AIX machine, the Kafka Service fails to start with a warning "Kafka services fail to connect to Kafka brokers" during setup.

This occurs when the upgrade was done from a version lower than 9.0.20 to 9.0.20.200

Cause

CTM-6188 : Upgrade a Distributed Control-M/Enterprise Manager to 9.0.20.200 on an AIX machine, the services on a Distributed Control-M/Enterprise Manager fail to start with an error msg "Kafka services fail to connect to Kafka brokers"

Solution

On the Distributed Control-M/Enterprise Manager machine, perform the following steps after the upgrade:

Login as the Control-M/Enterprise Manager AIX user
Run the following commands:

mkdir $HOME/kafka/kafka_data/jaas_config
em -no_wrap maintag -sync_files trace
em bmcpython $HOME/ctm_em/services/bin/apache_kafka_config.py sync
