Is BMC AMI DevX Code Debug for CICS (formerly Xpediter/CICS) downward compatible?

We added the Code Debug for CICS FMID WMXD170 to our existing Code Debug for CICS SMP/e zones for support of CICS TS v6.1.

In our CICS regions, we replaced the run-time library hlq.TMXD170.SMXDO71L with hlq.WMXD170.SMXDO74L in our CICS regions (both v6.1 and v5.4) and the Xpediter Service Provider started task.

We have tested both the CICS v6.1 and v5.4 regions and do not see any issue.

Can you confirm that the Code Debug for CICS v6.1 library is downward compatible with older CICS versions?

Code debug for CICS is CICS release-dependent. Installers can use the CICS TS v6.1 version of Code Debug for CICS libraries like, SMXDAUTH, SMXDPDSE, and SMXDSAMP libraries when deploying to multiple LPARs as you only require a single instance of those libraries. However, the SMXDO74L library is intended for only CICS TS v6.1. For any older versions of CICS TS, Installers would be required to use the Code Debug for CICS library for that lower version -- i.e. SMXDO71L for CICS TS v5.4.

-For the Xpediter Service Provider, Installers must use the latest Code Debug for CICS libraries -- for example: FMID WMXD170 for SMXDO74L

TMXD170 - FMID for CICS TS 5.4 (SMXDO71L)
UMXD170 - FMID for CICS TS 5.5 (SMXDO72L)
VMXD170 - FMID for CICS TS 5.6 (SMXDO73L)
WMXD170 - FMID for CICS TS 6.1 (SMXDO74L)
XMXD170 - FMID for CICS TS 6.2 (SMXDO75L) 

So, for example, any CICS TS v5.4 regions, the Installer would need to use Code Debug for CICSSMXDO71L LOADLIB and for any CICS TS v6.1 regions, the Installer should use Code Debug for CICS's SMXDO74L LOADLIB. Any other Code Debug for CICS libraries that are specified in the CICS startup would come from FMID WXMD170, (CICS TS v6.1 which would be the highest level)
