BMC Helix Control-M or OnPrem Control-M/Agent - Unable to install Agent on Linux host when /tmp directory has noexec permissions

The following errors are received during installation:

Helix Agent:
[user@lab ~]$ ./FZ4.9.0.21.300_Linux-x86_64.BIN
Extracting installation
/tmp directory is mounted noexec. Installation cannot continue.

On-Prem Agent:
[user@lab ~]$ ./setup.sh
/tmp directory is mounted noexec. Installation cannot continue.


Using the variable INST_TEMP_DIR to specify a different directory also fails.

The following CTM has been created for this issue:

CTM-11671 - fail to properly detect noexec mount restriction on /tmp

Solved with a rerelease of the 9.0.21.300 image on 9/25/2024 for OnPrem.

Note:

When performing agent upgrade using the new image file through deployment in Control Configuration Manager (CCM), the old image file under "$HOME\ctm_server\autodeploy\packages\" directory in Control-M/Server may still be there causing the same error.
Please remove the old image file so the new image file will be downloaded to Control-M/Server.

Alternate Solutions:

1. Temporarily disable the noexec mount option on all mount points that have "/tmp" in its path  such as /var/tmp, /dev/tmp, etc  
2. Perform the installation.
3. Restoring the noexec mounts option on all mount points with /tmp as referenced in step 1.
