What can I do with the Migrator product? |
This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers.
Legacy ID:KA289796 1- Login to Migrator with a valid admin account.
2- Open a New Server Window.
3- Select the Source server for the migration.
4- Select the form(s) you wish to migrate.
5- Right click and select the type of migration you wish to perform.
6- Then select the Destination server that you wish to migrate the form(s) to start the Migration by clicking Yes.
7- When the Migration finishes, you can verify the success by opening the Migrator results report.
8- Scroll down in the results report to see the details of the migration.
Part 2- A Scripted Migration
1- Set Migrator to Scripting mode under the Migrate menu icon.
2- Login to Migrator with a valid admin account.
3- Open a New Server Window.
4- Select the Source server for the migration.
5- Select the form(s) you wish to migrate as part of this script.
6- Right click and select the type of migration you wish to perform.
7- Then select the Destination server that you wish to migrate the form(s) to.
8- Click the Save button to save your script and give it a name.
9- To execute the script go to Script>Execute Migration Script
10- Select the script you would like to execute.
11- It will run the migration you have selected
12- When the Migration finishes, you can verify the success by opening the Migrator results report.
13- Scroll down in the results report to see the details of the migration.
Part 3- A Differences Report
1- Login to Migrator with a valid admin account.
2- Open a New Server Window.
3- Select the source server for the comparison.
4- Select the form(s) you would like to include in the difference report.
5- Select Differences and the Destination server you would like to compare against.
6- The report will run.
7- When it is finished, expand the trees on the right.
8- Red and Blue colors (by default) mean there is a difference or missing object. (See Tools>Options>Differences>Colors).
9- Double click on an object in the tree to get the detailed report about those items.
10- Scroll through the report to see all the information.
11- If you would like to migrate an object that is different, right click on it and select "Selected Object" and click Yes to immediately migrate it.
12- The migration will run and you can verify success in the results report that will appear on the status field at the bottom.
Part 4- A Differences Report for a specific form
1. Login to Migrator on Source as well as Destination server with a valid common admin account.
2- Open the objects and right click the form, you wish to take the difference report for
3- Click Form and Related Differences and select the Destination server.
4- When it is finished, expand the trees on the right.
5- Red and Blue colors (by default) mean there is a difference or missing object. (See Tools>Options>Differences>Colors).
6- Or Double click on an object in the tree to get the detailed report about those items.
7- Scroll through the report to see all the information or the differences.
Part 5- How to get Difference report in HTML format 1. Open/Generate difference report in Migrator tool. 2. Go to File Menu >> Select Option Export to HTML. 3. Enter file name and path for HTML report and Click on Save. |
