After a restore, adding a consolidator to a scanning appliance removes another one |
Root cause 1: a backup taken on a source consolidator was restored into a target consolidator without using the option "Preserve current Appliance Identity" (while it should be used)
In this case, the UI does not allow to the scanner to update both consolidator at the same time. Adding 1 consolidator removes the other one.
Workaround:
1- reset the consolidation configuration from the scanner 2- Unset the appliances as consolidators as follows: On Discovery 11.x, go to Administration->Discovery Consolidation and click "Unset as Consolidation Appliance".
On Discovery 12.x, go to Administration->Discovery Consolidation and click the "Standalone" tab. 3- restart the services of the consolidator
Root cause 2: defect DRUD1-35895. It impacts 21.3 (at least) when the option "Preserve current Appliance Identity" is used to restored a backup taken on a consolidator.4- Re-enable consolidation and reconnect the scanners Solution: wait for the release of the fix for DRUD1-35895 and restore with the option "Preserve current Appliance Identity". This root cause also leads to the symptoms documented in the KA below Discovery: Administration > Configure Consolidation shows the settings of another appliance Workaround: use the workaround of the root cause 1 Solution: wait for the release of the fix for DRUD1-35895. For now (2/2022), the release plan is not ready. |
