Problem

Control-M for Advanced File Transfer or Control-M Managed File Transfer job may end NOTOK with the following error in the output:
Error:
Post transfer file size validation failed: original name - [ {filename} ] original size [460] actual size [-1]

or

Failed to getFileSizeForVerification for path 'filename' on host 'hostname' due to path doesn't exist
Destination file 'filename' doesn't exist
Post transfer file size validation failed
Transfer of file 'filename' completed with errors. Destination file size validation has failed.
Destination file size not equal to source file size.

Cause

The FTP Server is sending "-1" for the size of the file instead of the actual size of the file and this value is reported by Control-M for AFT accordingly.

Solution

- Check with the FTP Server Administrator if this can be changed and configured correctly
- Use one of the following if the FTP Server Administrator is not able to resolve this configuration issue:

Option 1:
- Modify the Control-M for AFT/MFT User Account within Control-M Configuration Manager (CCM)
- Uncheck this option: "Verify destination file size"
- Resubmit the failed Control-M for AFT/MFT job to verify if this bypass the error

Option 2:
- Define an On-Do Statement for this Control-M for AFT Job to set the Job status set to OK.
- However, this means that Control-M for AFT will not be able to determine if the file transferred successfully.
- In the Job definition, In the Actions Tab do the following:
1. Add an On-Do action.
2. In the On, select "Specific statement output"
3. In the Statement, put "*actual size [-1]*", without the quotes.
4. In the Code, put "NOTOK", without the quotes.
5. In the Do, select Set to OK.
