Random issues in MidTier when running an IE browser in either Compatibility View (IE 8-11) or Enterprise Mode (IE11 specific) |
This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers. MidTier does not support either Compatibility View or Enterprise Mode for IE browsers. When you run any IE browser (versions 8, 9, 10, or 11) in Compatibility View, it emulates IE7. MidTier versions 8.1.x 9.x does not support IE7, and therefore you may see random issues (such as javascript errors, display problems, etc).
To disable Compatibility View in IE, deselect the menu item “Tools > Compatibility View”, or select “Tools > Compatibility View Settings”. Remove your site from the list, and make sure the “Display” options at the bottom are disabled (unchecked).
When you run IE11 browser in Enterprise Mode, it emulates IE8. Although IE8 is a supported browser, the emulation mode causes problems when used with MidTier. Therefore, IE11 should be run in standard IE11 Document mode in order to work properly.
To disable Enterprise Mode in IE11, deselect Tools > Enterprise Mode. Some company policies may have this option (to toggle on/off) hidden. See the following link for details on how Enterprise Mode works and how it can be configured by global policies, etc.
If you are unsure which rendering mode your IE browser is using, you can also use the IE Developer Toolbar (F12 tools) to determine the current Browser Mode in use by IE when logged into the MidTier application. (For IE 11, you can select the Emulation tab).
