Is it Possible to temporarily disable a User account to prevent the user from login to the application? |
This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers. People form currently have 'Profile Status' field with different values however there is not detailed explanation in documents about each value and how it affect individual user record. Currently even if you select any value (Obsolete,Offline,Delete etc) , user will be still able to log in to remedy server. The below mentioned can be considered while using these values (We have already raised RFE SW00309945 for details). 1. Proposed: Could be someone who has been hired but has not started yet 2. Enabled: A valid user and if he is part of support group is supposed to receive configured notifications 3. Offline: A user who is unavailable (sick, holidays, training etc) 4. Obsolete: A User who has left the organization or its record is old etc. 5. Archive: A valid record that you want to keep, or transfer to another server, etc. 6. Delete: This record is no longer valid and needs to be removed. Also Our suggestion is to try the following: First change the user to non-support and then make it Offline as per below steps: 1 .Open the Application Administration Console 2. Click the Custom Configuration tab 3. Select Foundation->People->People to open people form and search for the support people you want to remove. 4. Select the person record in the results list so that the people details are displayed in the lower results window. 5. Under "Other Functions" on the vertical navigation bar to the left, select "Change to Non Support". This will remove them from being a support person. 6. Then select Remove Login ID, to delete their Login, which will free up any consumed AR System/Application licenses. Finally set Profile Status to "Offline" as a visual indicator. The above steps should delete loginId of the user however the People record for this user will be still be present. If in future you want to see the loginId of this user then open People record of this user.In left navigation tab select 'Other Functions' >>>> 'View Audit Log' . This should open Audit log form. Select 'Form Audits' tab . In first audit you should be able to see field value for 'Remedy login Id' . This will also remove the association (of the PEOPLE record to be disabled) with different support groups defined , However, since if any user account needs to be disable then these support group relationships should be removed from users profile otherwise this may cause problem in application workflow (E.g. : In Assignment ,Approval etc). Then at a later time, when you need to enable the user account again, you have to set the support staff field to YES, define the user password (if required) and then define association with different support groups as desired. |
