NOTE: Although running Track-It! from a Citrix server is not tested or supported, the following information should help with the configuration.
- Create a domain user account and make sure the account has admin/install rights on the Citrix Presentation Server(s). For the remainder of the steps, we will assume a user named "TI8Citrix" was created.
This account is only used for installing and updating the Track-It! Technician Client application. This is necessary to keep the installation 'clean' as most of the application appears to be installed into the user profile of the user who installed it. - On the Citrix server, ensure all users have read access to the TI8Citrix user's profile. In some environments, the permissions may be more restrictive. If so, then 'Read/Execute' permissions need to be propagated to all sub folders for the 'Users' group from the root of this user's profile.
- Install the Track-It! Technician Client using that account, following normal Citrix application installation procedures:
- Login as the 'TI8Citrix' account on the Citrix server
- Open a DOS prompt and run the command "change user /install"
- Install Track-It! Technician Client (and any dependencies required by the installation).
- Run Technician Client and login.
- Close the Technician Client software.
- Open another DOS prompt and run the command "change user /execute".
- At this point the Technician Client should be successfully installed and only needs to be published.
- On the Citrix server, open the following directory (again we are using TI8Citrix as the user in our steps):
Windows 2003 C:\Documents and Settings\TI8Citrix\Local Settings\Apps\2.0 Windows 2008\2012 C:\Users\TI8Citrix\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 - Press F3 on the keyboard and search for TechnicianClient.exe. This file will be found within several subfolders of the above location.
- Once the location of TechnicianClient.exe is found, publish the .exe.
NOTE: Whenever a hotfix or service pack is installed, the administrator will need to login to Citrix and run the application in order to update it. |
