Adobe announced the end of development and distribution of Adobe Flash Player by the end of the year 2020. BMC has taken incremental & proactive steps over the recent release (version 11.3.04) to manage the deprecation of the Flash-based capabilities in the TrueSight Infrastructure Management (TSIM) Operations Console. BMC has also been providing alternative solution capabilities for the majority of areas where Flash was used in the past. BMC's recommendation is to plan and prepare to upgrade the platform to 11.3.04 in time to avoid any problems as a result of the Adobe Flash retirement at the end of the year.

Below are frequently asked questions around this topic:

1. What are the options available for the customer for managing Flash EOL for TSOM & BPPM?

2. Where can the customer find all the relevant material pertaining to Flash EOL?
3. Which components will be affected after Flash removal on browsers?
  •  TSIM Console (Flash based UI)
  •  Impact Model Designer (BMC Impact Model Designer that is used to create service models using CIs from Atrium CMDB)
  •  SNMP Adapter Configuration Manager (UI)

4. Do we have to upgrade TrueSight to replace Flash-based capabilities for all components?
  •  Yes. TrueSight Presentation server, TrueSight Infrastructure Management server and Integration Services to be migrated to 11.3.04 version Hotfix 001
  •  As a best practice it is always recommended to have all TrueSight Operations Management components on same version.

5. What will happen If I upgrade browser but don't upgrade TrueSight to 11.3.04?
  •  The browser will stop supporting Flash content & you will not be able to access components  which uses Flash.
  •  Alternatively, use Harman browser.
  •  If you do not want to use Harman and use the upgraded browser then they you would need to stop using TSIM console till you upgrade.
 
6. Can we upgrade TrueSight component from any version?
  • From BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management (BPPM) 9.6 FP2 migration can be done to  11.3.04 version.
  • From TSOM 10.5, upgrade to be done to 10.7 FP3 first and then to 11.3.04 version.
  • From TSOM 10.7 FP3, 11.0 FP3, 11.3.x direct upgrade can be done to 11.3.04 version.

7.  Are there any deprecated features from TSIM Console that is not moved to 11.3.04 TrueSight Console.
8. Can I access the TSIM Reports in 11.3.04 version?
9. How can we publish the MIB files if SNMP Adapter Configuration Manager is deprecated.
     Below is the main difference between SNMP Adapter Configuration Manager & Mib2map utility:

While publishing a new MIB file, it would use previous published outputs to generate the output files.To get the combined output of all MIB files while running the utility; all previous MIB’s can be placed in the same folder along with new MIB file.
 
10. Do we need to upgrade Remedy Single Sign On (RSSO) as well? 11. Is there any document that we can refer to avoid known issues seen while upgrading to 11.3.04 version?
