Getting below error when trying to Import data to a custom record definition in Innovation Studio Data Management Console

An error occurred while uploading the file. Check the file name or the contents in the file.

Steps to replicate

1.- Login to Innovation Studio Data Management Console: https://service_name-is.onbmc.com/helix/index.html#/com.bmc.arsys.rx.dataload/view/com.bmc.arsys.rx.dataload:Data%20Import

2.- Click on Import > New import job

3.- Name the import job and add the excel file to it then click on "Next >" you wills see the error

Cause

Wrong excel file structure

Solution

"MyFistLoad.xlsx" strcuture looked like below

Use below structure instead which includes:

Record Definition Name: record ApplicationID:RecordDefinitionName
Data Load Fields: Data-Load-Operation, Data-Load-Status
All Fields you would like to load
Value for those fields

NOTES:

Check "Importing custom record data into your application" for further information.

File attached to this KA

For "Data-Load-Operation" column you can only use "Create" but to handle updates you can use "updating existing records with new data" and then set the key field in the Import Job configuration
