Problem

- Control-M/Server failed to send e-mail as defined in the Control-M jobs.
- Below error can be found in the <Control-M/Server Home>/ctm_server/proclog/U_CTMMAIL<ORDER ID>.log file:
Control-M 0623 01:28:01.753 CM_IPC_ce_command - Error received from CE for request [MailSendingService send "<Control-M/Server Home>\ctm_server\temp\XX.XX.<ORDER ID>" "<Control-M/Server Home>\ctm_server\temp\XX.XX.<ORDER ID>"] :
[ERROR: Failed to send mail to <E-mail Address>: 501 5.1.7 Invalid address]

or

SendRecvSMTPCommand SMTP command failed received answer: (501 5.1.7 Invalid address

Cause

SMTP Mail Server required a full qualified email address for the sender to send the email

Solution

- Below is the solution to change the "Sender Email" in the Control-M/Server SMTP parameters within ctm_menu to a fully qualified address

1. Logon the Control-M/Server.
2. Execute the command: ctm_menu
3. Select option for "Parameter Customization"
4. Select option "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol Parameters"
5. Update "Sender Email" to use the Full Qualified E-mail Address
     For example,
       Change:
       2 - Sender Email : ControlMProduction
       to
       2 - Sender Email : ControlMProduction@mydomain.com
6. Save the configuration with the option "s"
7. Test the configuration with option "Test SMTP Settings"
