Installing or Upgrading to Control-M for SAP 9.0.00 or 9.0.01 or 9.0.21

Q1. Should I install Control-M for SAP on the same host where the SAP Server is located?
A1.  It is not mandatory but can be done if desired.  Control-M for SAP connects to the SAP Server with the native SAP java connector known as JCo.  The host where Control-M for SAP is installed must have TCP/IP connectivity to the SAP Server machine.
 
Q2. Do I have to upgrade all of my Control-M environment to 9.0.00 if I want to use Control-M for SAP 9.0.00 or 9.0.01?
A2.  It is not required and Control-M for SAP 9.0.00 and 9.0.01 are supported with any of the supported Control-M/Agent versions 7.0.00 and above.

Q3. Is the upgrade process migrating all my current Control-M for SAP details such as Account definitions, configurations, and Extractor configuration?
A3. All current settings in the previous version of Control-M for SAP will be included in the upgrade process.
 
Q4. Where are the configuration settings managed for Control-M for SAP?
Using the Control-M for SAP V900, where´s the JAVA application in the Control-M Agent to manage locally the accounts and parameters configuration ?
A4.    Starting with version 7.0.00 all the parameters and configuration information is managed via the Control-M Configuration Manager (CCM).  The Java utility local to the Control-M/Agent is no longer supported.
 
Q5. After upgrading Control-M for SAP on the Control-M/Agent host is it necessary to also update the plugins in Control-M/Enterprise Manager?
A5. It is required to update the EM client (and if applicable EM server) plugins that came with the version you are installing/upgrading to ensure proper functionality on the Control-M/Enterprise Manager side.  New plugins are also backward compatible with previous versions of Control-M for SAP in case there are multiple Control-M for SAP versions installed in the environment.
NOTE: For version 9.0.21 of SAP, Control-M/Enterprise Manager, Server and Agent needs to be 9.0.20 and higher

Q6.  What version of the JCO API is needed with Control-M for SAP?
A6.  Consult your SAP Administrator to download the most current JCO from SAP for the specific operating system where Control-M for SAP is installed.  Consult the Control-M for SAP Administrator Guide.

Q7.  Is there a difference in install media between Helix Control-M for SAP and OnPrem Control-M for SAP 9.0.21 and higher?
A7.  No, The same image and the same code base is used for both Helix and OnPrem.

Installing or Upgrading to Control-M for SAP 8.0.00
Q1. Should I install Control-M for SAP on the same host where the SAP Server is located?

When installing Control-M for SAP 8.0.00 with Control-M Workload Automation 8.0.00 and using Fix Pack 3 or lower Control-M for SAP 8.0.00 plugins need to be reinstalled according to the instructions in the Administrator Guide in the section “Installing the Control-M for SAP plug-in on Control-M/EM on Windows”

It is highly recommended to apply the latest patch PARMC.8.0.00.009.  Please contact BMC Customer Support to request this patch.
