When importing an XML file into a workspace in the Planning Domain of Control-M/Enterprise Manager you receive the error "The format of the Do Notify Mail message is not valid" and the import fails.
The same XML file can be imported correctly using Control-M/Enterprise Manager Workload Automation Client Version 9.0.18.100 or lower.

With version 9.0.18.200 the following error is displayed:



 

CAR00188867 is addressed in Control-M/Enterprise Manager Version 9.0.19.

If version 9.0.19 has not yet been installed in, either of the following two solutions could also be applied:

1- Install an additional Control-M Workload Automation client with 9.0.18, fix pack 100

-OR-

2- Add MESSAGE="0000" to the XML file for any jobs mentioned by the error, specifically to the DO MAIL instruction that has a missing MESSAGE field.

1. Open the XML file with a text editor each of the line numbers mentioned in the Import error.
2. Locate the DOMAIL row that doesn't contain a message: for instance
   • <DOMAIL URGENCY="R" DEST="address@domain.com" SUBJECT="Mail subject" ATTACH_SYSOUT="D" />
3. Change the row adding the missing parameter:
   • <DOMAIL URGENCY="R" DEST="address@domain.com" SUBJECT="Mail subject" MESSAGE="0000" ATTACH_SYSOUT="D" />
4. Save the file and proceed with import.

-OR-

3 - Check the character count of the MESSAGE field in the XML for any jobs listed in the error

1. Open the XML file with a text editor each of the line numbers mentioned in the Import error.
2. Locate the DOMAIL row
   • <DOMAIL URGENCY="R" DEST="address@domain.com" SUBJECT="Mail subject" MESSAGE="0021this is a test email"ATTACH_SYSOUT="D" />
3. Change the row, updating/verifying the character count of the MESSAGE field:
   • <DOMAIL URGENCY="R" DEST="address@domain.com" SUBJECT="Mail subject" MESSAGE="0020this is a test email"ATTACH_SYSOUT="D" />
4. Save the file and proceed with import.
