Question

After installing the BMC Defender SIEM Correlation Server product, no desktop shortcut is found, or optionally, a shortcut for access from a secondary location is desired. How may a shortcut for direct access to the product be created?

Answer

The BMC Defender SIEM Correlation Server product may be installed on a Windows server or a PC, as documented here:

Generally, a shortcut icon is created on the desktop page by the installation process. However, if the shortcut gets deleted or is otherwise not visible on the desktop once the installation process is completed, a shortcut may be created using the steps below. Optionally, a shortcut for access from a secondary location, such as another server or a PC may be desired, in which case the steps below should also be utilized.

On the machine needing a shortcut, right click on the desktop and select ‘New’ and ‘Shortcut’ on the dialogue boxes, as shown here:

In the ‘Create Shortcut’ dialogue box, specify the network name of the BMC Defender SIEM Correlation Server machine as an HTTPS URL, and click ‘Next’:

In the next dialogue box, specify the Shortcut name as you would like it to appear on the desktop, for example, ‘BMC Defender’, and then click ‘Finish’:

The new shortcut should appear on the desktop as shown below. Drag it as desired to the desired location:
