3.Q) Is the feature "Agent Deployment" valid to install new Control-M/Agents in remote / Agentless machines via the Control-M Configuration Manager?
A) Agent deployment is only valid for regular Control-M Agent and not for Agentless hosts.
4.Q) Is it supported to have a higher version of the Control-M/Agent than the Control-M/Server? For example, Control-Agent version 9.0.00 connected to a Control-M/Server version 8.0.00.
A) This configuration is not supported for version 9.0.19 or lower but it is supported for version 9.0.20 and higher, and further details can found in article 000078428 available in the BMC Knowledge Base. Version is referred to as V.M.R.
5.Q) What considerations should I take when downloading the Control-M/Agent for UNIX and Microsoft Windows from the Electronic Production Distribution (EPD) site?
A) It is important to maintain the permissions and the format of the installer. Please refer to article 000060456 available in the BMC Knowledge Base.
Additionally, make sure use BINARY mode when performing any transfer of the installation files to retain the integrity of the file.
6.Q) What are the considerations to install/upgrade the Control-M/Agent after version 9.0.18 with the new product delivery model ?
A) Starting version 9.0.18, BMC Control-M products has a new delivery model to provide a new release and two fixpacks per year.
To upgrade version 9.0.18 GA - The minimum version required it´s 9.0.00
To upgrade version 9.0.18 Fixpack1 or higher - The minimum version required it´s 8.0.00

7.Q) What are the requirements to install Control-M/Agent for UNIX and Microsoft Windows?
A) All requirements in terms of software and hardware are documented in the Control-M Installation Guide in the chapter "Control-M/Agent installation" for the version being installed.

8.Q) Is it possible to copy a Control-M/Agent for UNIX and Microsoft Windows installation from one host to another?
A) This is not possible and not a supported procedure. the recommended and supported method is to install the Control-M/Agent for UNIX and Microsoft Windows on the new host.
Additionally, it is not possible to transfer the Control-M Agent information that is written in the system files/registry,
9.Q) Is it possible to install two different versions of the Control-M/Agent on a Windows machine? For example version 8.0.00 and version 9.0.00.
A) This is not possible and not a supported procedure prior to 9.0.21.200. Only two different Control-M/Agents of the same version can be installed on a Windows machine. With release of 9.0.21.200 and higher it is possible to install two or more different versions of the Agent on Windows OS and its possible to install different versions of plug-in as well.
10.Q) Is it possible to install two different versions of the Control-M/Agent on the same Unix/Linux machine? For example version 8.0.00 and version 9.0.00.
A) Yes this is possible, please refer to the knowledge article 000025105 available in the BMC Knowledge Base
11.Q) What are the recommended permissions of the Control-M/Agent installed on a Unix/Linux machine?
A) This is detailed in the article 000096332 available in the BMC Knowledge Base.
12.Q) How can I reconfigure a Control-M/Agent existing installation if the hostname or path changes?
A) In this case It is suggested to re-install the Control-M/Agent completely to ensure correct behavior of the product.
13.Q) Can I install a Control-M/Agent on an NFS File system?
A) Yes, this is possible starting version 9.0.00 and higher. However Application Plug-in can not be installed on a Control-M/Agent on an NFS file system.
14.Q) Is it possible to install the Control-M/Agent in a Unix/Linux machine under another directory different than the Control-M/Agent account's HOME directory?
A) Yes, this is possible starting version 9.0.18, please review the chapter "Control-M pre-installation procedures on UNIX" in the product manual, however, the home directory can be a symbolic link to another location if the location is on the local disk.
15.Q) What are the parameters we can use in the XML files for a silent installation of the Control-M/Agent?
A) Please refer to the Knowledge Article 000048117 for further details.
16.Q) Is it possible to upgrade the Control-M/Agent with no downtime?
A) This feature is available for Unix environments starting with the base version 8.0.00. For Windows environments, this is available starting with version 9.0.00 Fix Pack 1.

17.Q) What are the requirements to install an Application Plug-ins such as Control-M for SAP or Control-M for PeopleSoft, and what is the installation order?
A) Install the Control-M Agent first and then install the Application Plug-in next either directly on that Agent or via the Agent Deployment feature via the CCM.
Follow the specific installation instructions including the in relevant Application Plug-in documentation as there are several steps involved.
NOTES:
- Installing Application Plug-ins is not supported on a Remote / Agentless host
- Some newer Application Plug-ins are deployed directly from the CCM as well as the EM client plugins are handled automatically.
18.Q) Is BMC java (JRE) package upgraded during Control-M/Agent upgrade?
A) yes both 9.0.20 and 9.0.20.100 of Agent will upgrade the BMC JRE to the JRE 11.
19 Q) What the options for installing a point patch that comes with .BIN extension?

20 Q) Is Datacenter release of Microsoft Windows also include in the support matrix for Control-M/Agent
A) Yes, We list on the standard edition of the windows server but its implied that Datacenter edition of Windows is also supported.
